In all cultures, people convey sentiments through their words, actions and gestures. These expressions, while uniquely individual, are shaped by the communities we’re a part of so they are also very cultural. Caribbean Sentiments presents greeting cards, stationery & tings from a West Indian perspective by highlighting Caribbean culture through the lifestyle, customs & traditions of the people. But how did we get here?!
One Christmas holiday, at home in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, my sister, mom and I were out shopping. It was quickly noticed that the greeting cards being sold in the stores did not depict Caribbean Christmas. There were so many cards filled with snow….honestly it was kinda vexing. It made it feel like the way we do Christmas in the Caribbean was wrong. Like it wasn’t worth being highlighted and celebrated.
Caribbean Sentiments was born out of a desire to see Caribbean life, culture and customs showcased in greeting cards, stationery & tings …..all year long.
